Ercolano Pitches Complete Game Shutout As Softball Defeats Bakersfield, 1-0

Riverside—The UC Riverside Softball Team concluded action at the Amy S. Harrison Classic Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 shutout victory over Bakersfield. Box Score.
These teams met on Saturday, and it was a high scoring affair as the Highlanders rallied back from eight down to win 15-10.
On Sunday, though, it was much of the opposite as there was no score through 3.5 innings.
UCR got on board in the bottom of the fourth, as Marissa Escalante drove in Samantha Hernandez, who pinch ran for Natalie Sanchez after her double.
That was all the scoring either team could muster, as UCR starting pitcher Ashley Ercolano held the Runners scoreless tossing a complete game.
CSUB did record eight hits—two more than the Highlanders—and left eight on base, including the tying run on base in the top of the seventh.
UC Riverside now readies to host its second tournament of the season, the Mizuno Invitational, February 28-March 2 at Amy S. Harrison Field in Riverside.
