Women's Golf Concludes UC Irvine Invitational Presented By Kia In 13th Place

Santa Ana—The UC Riverside Women's Golf Team concluded the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia on Tuesday afternoon in 13th place out of 13 teams with a 941 total. Complete Results. Day 1 Story.
The Highlanders fired round of 310-317-314 and finished just one stroke behind Idaho in 12th, and a mere six back of 11th-place Nevada.
No. 8 Stanford held on to its first day lead to win the tournament, finishing with a three-round score of 864. No. 37 Texas A&M placed second at 887 while #16 Pepperdine came in third with an 879.
UC Riverside's Savannah Vilaubi was in second place heading into the last round, but a 75 pushed her down to seventh to conclude the tournament with a total, one-over-par score of 217.
An LPGA experience was at stake, as the winner of the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia received a sponsor exemption into the 2014 Kia Classic March 27-30 at Aviara Golf Club.
Stanford's Mariah Stackhouse claimed individual honors and the sponsor exemption, shooting a four-under 212 to win by two strokes.
After Vilaubi's seventh place finish, the next Highlanders player was Isabelle Shee, who tied for 57th with a 241 (78-82-81). Brittani Ferraro was one shot back of her, tying for 59th with 82-80-80=242, while Haley Wian tied for 63rd (82-84-78=244) and Tina Nagai came in 66th at 245 (79-85-81).
The Highlanders now have just days to prepare for their next tournament, the Red Rocks Invitational on March 1-2 in Sedona, Arizona.
