Dartmouth Scores Early In 3-1 Win Over Softball

Los Angeles, CA - The UC Riverside Softball Team gave up a pair of early runs to Dartmouth Saturday morning, and that proved to be the difference as the Big Green earned a 3-1 victory over the Highlanders at the LMU Invitational II. Box Score.
In the first inning, UCR starting pitcher Alyssa Razo walked the first two Dartmouth batters, and that ended her day as Sophie Slagle came on to pitch. Slagle got the next two batters out, but Morgan McCalmon singled and advanced to second on an error as both runners came home to score.
The Big Green tacked on a solo run in the fourth to open a 3-0 margin, but the Highlanders got one back in the sixth on a Haley Harris double that plated Karina Romero. UC Riverside could not take advantage of its baserunners, however, leaving two runners on base to end the inning.
In the seventh, UCR was retired in order as Dartmouth held on for the 3-1 win.
The Highlanders now play Loyola Marymount at 11 am PT Saturday to conclude the invitational.
