Softball Concludes Season With 3-0 Loss At Cal Poly

San Luis Obispo, CA - The UC Riverside Softball Team concluded the 2014 season Saturday with a 3-0 loss at Cal Poly in Big West Conference action (Box Score). The Highlanders finish the year with a 23-31 record while the Mustangs improve to 33-19, 14-7.
CP took the early lead scoring two in the bottom of the first inning. Back-to-back singles by Emily Ceccacci and Courtney Tyler put runners on the corners, and Sierra Hyland followed with a double to right center to drive in both runners for the 2-0 advantage.
That score remained until the sixth when Hyland hit another double, driving in Ceccacci who hit a one-out single up the middle making it a 3-0 ballgame.
UC Riverside had opportunities to score but left nine runners stranded throughout the game, including two each in the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Hyland earned the win in the circle for Cal Poly, while Sophie Slagle took the loss for UCR.
On the day, Haley Harris went 2-for-3 while five others had one hit apiece.
