Men's Golf Finishes On Top at the Mission Cup

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team finished at the top of the four-team, 18-hole Mission Cup hosted by UCR Monday, Jan. 27. Team Results. Individual Results.
Last spring, the Highlanders teed-off against California Baptist University in a two-team showdown. This year the one-day tournament added two more to the competition, the University of Redlands and the University of La Verne.
The Highlanders concluded ahead of second place, Redlands, by two strokes. There was a 17 stroke difference between first and the fourth place La Verne.
Sam Gillis was UCR's top finisher, taking the third spot with a score of 73. David Gazzolo was two shots back at 75 rounding out the top five, while Louis Kim tied for 6th with Kavan Eubank and Christian Sanders from California Baptist, and Austin Matzaganian out of La Verne, shooting a 76.
Andre Vu and Anthony Bonales ended in a three-way tie at 10th with Redlands' Ryan Turner, shooting a 77, while Matt Lutz and Brandon Tsujimoto rounded off the squad with a 78 and 82, respectively.
Redlands' Bobby Holden and Anthony Estes tied for the individual title, both firing a 72.
The Highlanders return to action with a trip to Lakeside, CA at the SDSU Barona Collegiate Cup scheduled for September 9-10.
