Stockton, CA-The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team moved up four spots on the team leaderboard, and Matt Lutz held on to his third place position with a steady final round at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational. (

The Highlanders entered the final day eleventh, but where within range of seven teams ahead of them, and took advantage of the opportunity. UCR as a team shot a final round 294, the fifth best team round of the day which catapulted them into a tie for seventh.
Sacramento State (+7) fought off a charge from Long Beach State (+9) to claim the team title by a two shot margin. UC Irvine (+22) moved into third place, thanks to the low team round (283, -1) of the day.
Matt Lutz fought off challengers from various schools that made serious moves on the day, but were unable to shake the sophomore, who held firmly in third place with a solid one-over par 72.UC Irvine's David Kim (209, -4) shot a two-under 69 to take the lead and individual title, just one shot ahead of Sacramento State's Taylor Knoll (210, -3).
Brandon Tsujimoto (227, +14) had the Highlander low round of the day with a three under-par 68, moving up 25 spots to a tie for 56th. Sam Gillis (224, +11) finished tied for 36
th followed by Andrew Spilman (231, +18) T68, and Pachara Sakulyong (239, + 26) was 83rd.
Four other Big West teams competed in the event, led by Long Beach State (2nd), followed by UC Irvine (3rd), Cal State Fullerton (10
th), and CSUN (14th).Â
The Highlanders have completed the fall season and return to action
January 25, 2016 at the Winter Intercollegiate event in Beaumont, CA.
