Three Highlanders Smash Home Runs In 15-0 Victory Over Howard

Box Score Riverside- The UC Riverside Softball Team moves to 18-6 on the season after shutting out Howard 15-0 in five innings Saturday afternoon. The Highlanders are now 2-1 after day two of the Highlander Classic.

With 18 wins so far this season, the Highlanders are off to their best start during the program's Division I-era.

Starting on the mound today for the Highlanders was Chelsea Ponce, who now boats a 12-3 record, throwing four innings, striking out three and giving up just one hit. She leads the Big West with a 1.56 era over 90 innings of pitching.

Three of UCR's 10 hits this afternoon were home runs making it the most home runs hit in a single-game in the program's Division I-era. Rebecca Faulkner, Chelsey Holley, and Natalie Sanchez blasted the home runs, with Faulkner's and Holley's occurring in the second inning.

The Highlanders are back in action Sunday, March 8 for the final day of the Highlander Classic, beginning at 9:00 am PT.
