Boulder Creek, NV—Jakeishya Le and Hannah Facchini both finished at -7 for the tournament, setting a new UCR Women's Golf 36-hole record total in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Country Club. (Final results)
Le and Facchini, who finished tied for third, broke the record established by Brittani Ferraro at the 2013 Birdies for Breast Cancer tournament. (single-round records)
Facchini (Hanford, CA/ Hanford West HS), who was tied for the overall lead, came into today's final round tied for the lead at six under. She navigated the course for one under-par 71, and logged the back-to-back under par rounds for the first time in career (scorecard).
Le (Santa Ana, CA/Mater Dei HS) birdied her final hole of the event to shoot 69, and make program history by carding her second round in the 60s—a first in the history of the program by any player in a tournament.
The tournament was cut to just two rounds after Monday's second round was canceled due to lightning.Â
UCR finished eighth in a field that featured 15 teams ranked in the Golfstat top-100 as well as ahead of the Highlanders at 127. They followed their program record four-under par 284 as a team in round one, with a three-under par 285 to get to -7 for the tournament, shattering the existing team 36 hole mark of +6 by 13 strokes.
Baylor held on to claim the team title at -25, eight ahead of the host UNLV in second, at -17, and nine clear of Idaho in third at -16.
The Highlanders are off until 2017, when they host the Battle at the Rock Tournament at Oak Quarry Golf Club Febraury 13-14.
