Fresno, CA—Matt Lutz shot an even par 71 in the final round of the Nick Watney Invitational at San Joaquin Country Club to finish tied for third, and UC Riverside Men's Golf Team remained in eighth. (

Lutz played the front nine even with a birdie and bogey to go with seven pars. He would make bogey on the 420 yard par 4 13th, before getting the shot back with a birdie on the 15th, a 422 yard par 4.
On the 382 yard par 4 17th, where Lutz made birdie and par in rounds one and two, he made his third bogey of the round. The finishing par 5 18th saw Lutz regain the dropped shot with a birdie to finish his final round even and the tournament -3.
Lutz's 210 total was his second under-par total in as many events this season, and produced the sixth top-5 result of his career.
Saint Mary's Perry Cohen (-5) made birdie on 18 to win individual medalist honors by one shot ahead of Cal Poly's Justin De Los Santos (-4).
The Highlanders held off a challenge from Columbia to remain where the started the day in eighth, one spot better than their last appearance in the Fresno State hosted event in 2014.
BYU shot a tournament-low three-under 281 team round to overtake the team lead from Saint Mary's and claim the title ahead of the Gaels in second. Nevada took home third, after matching BYU's final round 281 as a team.
The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team is off next week, and will return to action October 17-18 at the Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club—the site of their 2015 Big West Championship victory.
