Sacramento, CA-The 2016 UC Riverside Cross Country season came to a close Friday with the Men's team finishing 22nd out of 29 teams, and the Women's team coming in 28th out of 35 in NCAA West Regionals at the Haggins Oaks Golf Course.

Faith Makau, who finished third at the Big West Championships two weeks ago, was the top finisher on both sides coming in 53rd in a time of 20:44.1. Makau shaved over a minute off her previous time in the NCAA Regional in Seattle in 2015.

Solomon Demeku-Ousman captured top honors for the men in the grueling 10k race, coming in 91st with a time of 31:43.2-nearly 20 seconds better than last year's NCAA Regional showing of 32:02.
