Simi Valley—Entering the final round of play at the CSUN Matador Invitational, the Highlanders were alone in fourth, just five shots back of Morehead State for third place, and six shots behind Hawai'i for second.
Windy conditions made the already challenging course even more difficult for the players, as no player in the field managed to shoot a round at par (72) or better throughout the two-day event.
Santa Clara (945, +81) finished atop the team leaderboard, a full nine shots clear of Morehead State (954, +90), who finished in second place. Hawai'i (960, +96) was the Big West's top finisher in third place, just six shots ahead of the Highlanders (966, +102).
Although UCR was not able to catch Hawai'i for third, they did finish 12 shots better than Big West schools Cal Poly in (978, 6
