Sedona, AZ—Freshman Jakeishya Le overcame a one shot deficit in the final round of the Red Rocks Invitational to claim her first career tournament title. The UC Riverside Women's Golf Team finished second and Paris Griffith finished in a tie for third--her second straight top-3 result.
Final player resultsLe entered the final round trailing Southern Utah's Taylor Viquelia by one shot. She shot a two over 74 over the final 18, two strokes better than Viquelia's 76 to claim the Red Rocks Individual trophy.
The Highlanders (598, +22) entered the day just a stroke behind South Dakota Staten (595, +19), but was unable to catch the Jackrabbits, who shot 300 on the day as a team compared to UCR's 302. Seattle university jumped up from fifth to claim third place.
Final team resultsParis Griffith started the day eighth and worked her way into the to a tie for third by firing the second best round of the day--a one over par 73. Griffith also finished third at the UCR Battle at the Rock event two weeks ago.
The Highlanders are off the for rest of March, but return to Arizona for the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Mariposa April 4-5.
