Tayler Misfeldt Named Big West Pitcher Of The Week

Irvine—This afternoon, the Big West announced that Tayler Misfeldt has been named Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Misfeldt (17-8) a sophomore from Tracy, CA helped lead UCR to a sweep of UC Santa Barbara, the first sweep of the Gauchos since joining the conference.

She tossed a complete game six hit shutout in the conference home opener against the Gauchos, who came into the series 3-0 in the Big West. She also picked up a victory in a relief appearance on Saturday.

Sunday in the series finale, she went eight innings, allowing just three runs and scattering eight hits in the extra inning, 4-3 victory. For the week she had an E.R.A. of 1.37 over 15.1 innings while going a perfect 3-0.

This week's honor is the first of Misfeldt's career and the first of the season for the Highlanders. She is seventh pitcher in school history to win the Big West weekly award. The last was Chelsea Ponce in May of 2015. (view list of honorees)
