Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's and Women's Cross Country teams are hosting the 36th Annual UCR Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September 17 beginning at 7:30 am at the Ag/Ops Course in Riverside.

The Ag/Ops Course is located adjacent to campus on the 420-acre Citrus Research Center and Agricultural Experiment Station on the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Canyon Crest Drive. The course is 85 percent flat with a few rolling hills, hard packed dirt with pre-competition watering to reduce dust.

The schedule is as follows:
7:30 am – Women's 6000m Invitational
8:05 am – Men's 8000m Invitational
8:45 am – Women's 5000m Collegiate Open
9:15 am – Awards Presentation

The 2016 UCR Invitational field will contain 40 teams which features 17 Division I teams, highlighted by South Central region #1 Arkansas (W), West #9,10 Cal Poly (M,W), the Mountain region's #11 Utah Valley (M), and West #11 UC Santa Barbara (M). 

2015 Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year Faith Makau will make her season debut Saturday.Weslie Totten looks to build on her eighth place showing in the season's opening event. Halina Carrera, Dominique Dowell, Maryann Holliday, Samantha Poliakon, Leslie Rivera, Emily Sanchez, and Paloma Tirado round out the runners competing for UCR Women's team.

Expected to compete on the Men's side for the Highlanders is top returning runner Solomon Demeku-Ousman, Arman Irani, who finished 10th in the Nevada Twilight Classic, along with Andres Delgado, Carlos Lopez, James Sever, Brandon Shields and Cesar Solis.

Parking for home cross country meets is in Lot 30 located in the Northwest corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Canyon Crest Drive. Shuttles will be available to transport spectators from the parking lot to the course and back to the parking lot. A $5 fee is payable to the attendant on site. If no attendant is present, please use the dispenser located in the lot. Media parking is available at the course.

To reach the Ag/Ops Course from the 215/60 freeway, exit Martin Luther King and go West. Turn left at the Canyon Crest traffic light and travel approximately 300 meters to the course entrance on the right. For parking in Lot 30, continue straight on Martin Luther King.
