Gillis Claims First Career Title, Men's Golf Wins Roadrunner Invitational By Nine

Bakersfield—Sam Gillis won his first career individual title and Men's Golf claimed the team title by nine strokes in the Roadrunner Invitational at the Bakersfield Country Club.
Gillis, who entered the final round tied with teammate Matt Lutz at -3, shot an even par 72 to remain at -3 en route to his first career title. The senior from San Jacinto, CA matched his career-low with a four-under par 68 in the first round of the event.
"It feels good to finally get my first collegiate win and to also have the team win after ending our last season with victory.", said Gillis.
The Men's team held on to it's nine shot advantage over UT RIo Grande Valley to claim its first regular season title under Head Coach Rick Todd.

Lutz was runner-up after carding a two-over par 74 in the final 18, and Andrew Spilman (T4) earned his first career top-5 finish. (view player leaderboard)

The team is off next week, but will return to action October 3-4 at the Nick Watney Intercollegiate in Fresno.
