Women's Golf Moves Up To Finish Fifth In The Rose City Collegiate

Aurora, OR—The UC Riverside Women's Golf Team shot the third best team round of the day to move up to a fifth place finish in the Rose City Collegiate at Langdon Farms Golf Club.

The Highlanders started the final round in sixth position, a single shot behind Cal State Fullerton. They outplayed their Big West rival by 10 strokes over the final 18 holes to overtake fifth place and finish just six back of a top-3 result. 

Jakeishya Le (+6) finished tied for 13th after shooting a final round 75, as did teammate Paris Griffith (+7), who finished T17. Sophomore transfer Hana Furuichi found her way to the top quarter of the 87 player field in her first tournament as a Highlander, finishing 21st. (view leaderboard)

Oregon State (+12) claimed the title ahead of Sacramento State (+15) by three shots in second, and 11 clear of Portland State (+23) in third. Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg won the individual title at -4, a single stroke ahead of Southern Utah' s Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong and Sacramento State's Sofie Babic at -3.

UC Riverside returns to the links this weekend in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club in Palm Desert.
