Softball Adds Two-Time All-American Cheridan Hawkins To Coaching Staff

Riverside—UC Riverside Head Softball Coach Nikki Palmer announced today that she added three-time Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year and two-time NFCA All-American Cheridan Hawkins to the Highlanders coaching staff.

Hawkins graduated in 2016 with a bachelors degree in family and human Services from Oregon, where she was a four-time First-Team All-Pac 12 selection (13-16), a top-3 finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year (2015), and the Ducks record holder for career strikeouts.

"Cheridan brings a tremendous amount of high-level experience and enthusiasm that will greatly benefit our pitching staff in the Big West this year," said Palmer. "She is the perfect choice for our team, and I feel that she will be able to make an immediate impact on our program."

Hawkins played on the USA Elite Team this past summer, and both the United States Junior National Team and the Senior National Team in the summer of 2013.

"I'm excited about the joining the Highlanders, and the opportunity to share my experience with the team.", said Hawkins.

The Anderson, CA native will work primarily with the Highlanders' pitching staff.
