Industry Hills, CA—Sam Gillis finished in a tie for fourth after three rounds were completed at the Folino Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Club Tuesday, and the UC Riverside Men's Golf Team came in sixth out of the ten teams in the field (leaderboard).

Gillis opened with an ever par 72, before carding back-to-back 73s. He started his final round on the par 4, 462 yard 14th, a hole which he would birdie for the second time in the tournament. 

Following bogeys on no. 3 and no. 4, Gillis picked up the strokes on the par 5 8th and 10th to get his round to -1, but slid back to +1 with miscues on his final two holes, 12 & 13. His fourth showing is the ninth finish of his career inside the top-5.

Long Beach State's Joe Fryer (-7) shot a pair three-under par 69s in the first two rounds, followed by a final round one-under 71 to claim the individual title ahead UCSB's Zach Smith (-2) and Brian Humpreys of Boise State (+1). 

The team trophy went to Long Beach (+8), who held off fellow Big West schools UC Santa Barbara (+10) and UC Irvine in second and third respectively.

The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team is off next week, and returns to the course February 13-14 at the Pro Compression Invitational in San Diego.
