Simi Valley, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team finished in ninth place at the Bill Cullum Invitational Tuesday, led by
Brandon Tsujimoto's 10th-place finish, and final-round 68.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
Brandon Tsujimoto tied his career-best round with a 68 in the third round of the invitational. His previous 68 came in the third round of the Pacific Invitational on October 31, 2015.
Tsujimoto also charted a career-best three-round score of 213—one stroke better than his previous career best of 214 recorded at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational on October 25-26, 2013.
Tsujimoto's 68 is the second lowest round of the season for a member of the Highlanders, as
Tyler Moore logged a 67 in the third round of the Colorado Invitational on September 26.
Tsujimoto's tenth place finish is the second top 10 finish of his career, and second best finish ever behind his seventh place showing at the OGIO UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate on April 14-15, 2014.
Tsujimoto shot par or better on 17 of the 18 holes in the third round, including an eagle on the far five, second hole.
Bahram Talle's 72 on day three is tied for his second lowest round as a collegian, which he set the previous day in round two.
Talle led the Highlanders with 12 birdies over the 54 holes.
Talle's 72's in the second and third rounds are his second lowest round of the year. He shot a 71 in the second round at the Colorado Invitational.
The Highlanders were four-under par in the final round, which was the second-best round of the day by any team. Their combined score of 284, Tuesday, is the team's second best round of the season behind the 282 the Highlanders shot in the third round of the Colorado Invitational,
Tyler Moore's 70 helped him improve 23 spots from the second round to the third.
The Highlanders' best holes of the tournament were the Par 5s where they shot -18 under par, the fifth lowest score of the tournament. They also shot 49 birdies which were tied for sixth best of the invitational.
