Rancho Santa Fe, CA–The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team came in eleventh out of the twelve team field, during the Pro Compression Invitational at The Farm's Golf Club.
Sam Gillis was the finisher for the Highlanders in a tie 23rd. He and Spilman added to their career under-par round totals in the tournament–Spilman -1, 71 in round one, and Gillis -2, 70 in round two.
Wichita State's Yannick Emmert won the individual title at -13 under for the tournament, which included an opening round 63. Sacramento State's Aaron Beverly (-8) came in second, followed by a tie for
third by a pair from UC Santa Barbra, Zach Smith and Brent Bennet (-6).
The team trophy went to trophy went to the Gauchos at -12, with second place going to Wichita State at -3, and a third place to Cal Poly, who was +12.
The Highlanders return to the course this weekend for the Wyoming Desert Invitational. The Classic Club will play host to the three day tournament, Feb. 17-19 in Palm Desert.
