Palm Desert, CA–The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team moved up in the final round to finish 19th at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club.
The Highlanders shot a team 10 over-par 298 on the final day of competition in Palm Desert, which moved them up one spot after starting the day 20th overall.
Andrew Spilman was the top finisher on the team in a tie for 50th. Sam Gillis carded a one-over 73 in the final 18 to bring his round two and three score to -2. Gillis shot 85 in the tournament's opening round.
#10 Oregon (-27) claimed the team title by nine strokes over Colorado (-16). The Ducks were led Golfstat no. 1 rated player Wyndham Clark and no. 7 Norman Xiong, who finished tied for medalist honors at -11.
UC Riverside will tee it up next week at the Long Beach State Invitational February 27-28.
