Long Beach, CA–Sam Gillis finished in a tied for 12th overall, and the UC Riverside Men's Golf Team tied for 13th in the Long Beach State hosted Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club. (

Gillis entered the final 18 tied for second after completing his second round, which was suspended due to darkness, Tuesday morning. The junior from San Jacinto carded a four-under par (70) 66 in a round that featured five birdies and just one bogey. He was done in by a double at the 383 yard, par 4 eighth–a hole which he made par on in the two previous rounds. He would go on to play the next nine hole at +6 for a final round 78.
Matt Lutz had his best two rounds of the spring with a two-over par 72 in the second round, and three-over 73 in the third.
Boise State claimed the team title by four strokes ahead Cal Poly, led by medalist Brian Humpreys (-1), who held off a trio of challengers just a shot back at even par.
UC Riverside returns to action next Monday in the Sacramento State Invitational March 6-7.
