Riverside–LMU got past the UC Riverside Softball Team 3-2 Saturday afternoon at the Amy S Harrison Field.
Hannah Rodriguez got the Highlanders on the board early with two-run single up the middle in the bottom of the first.
UCR r Haley Marschall did well to keep the Lions off balance until the third, when LMU got a two-run single of their own to make it a 2-2 ball game. Still in the third, they took the lead on a sac fly to right.
Tayler Misfeldt came in relief to start the fourth, and pitched a scoreless three and a third innings, before giving way to Anessa Cepeda, who got the final two outs of the LMU seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Highlanders got a one-out single from Jenna Curtan. Stephanie Tickemyer stepped in the box with two out, and hit a 2-1 offering to dead center just steps away from being the game winner.
The Lions' Hannah Bandimere picked up the complete-game victory and Marschall was saddled with the loss.
Maddy Richard went 2-2, and scored a run in the loss.
The UC Riverside Softball Team returns action Monday, when they host Detroit Mercy in a double-header with game one scheduled to start at 12 noon.
