Lubbock, TX– Jakeishya Le finished the 2017 Lubbock NCAA Regional with four birdies over her last eight holes on the way to her best round of the tournament, a one-over par 73 at The Rawls Course Wednesday.
Le started on the 10th hole for the third straight day, and for the third straight day she made par at the 165-yard par 3.
Following three-putts at 12 and 14, Le had a triple bogey seven at the par 4 15th, after hitting her drive and her approach into bunkers– after that she would not have another bogey.
The First Team All-Conference sophomore then settled in to run off four straight pars.
At the 496 yard par 5 2nd, Le broke through with her first birdie of the day. She struck again on the fourth, sinking a 12-footer from just below the hole.
On the short par 4 seventh (335), she hit her tee shot to a comfortable distance, where she able to fire into the green to within 15 feet. Le drained the putt in the center of the cup to get -3 on her back-nine.
The par 5 ninth, Le's final hole, saw her hit a wedge from 65 yards on her third shot to eight feet. With a restored confidence in her flat stick, she took little time over her putt that also dropped in the center of the cup, and gave her four birdies over a bogey-free 12-hole finishing stretch.
Le (77-78-73=228) finished in a tie for 63rd overall for the championship at +12.
Arizona State shot a team 16-under par 272 in the final round to win the Lubbock Regional Championship, as well as claim the top-three spots on the player leaderboard led by Medalist Monica Vaughn at -8. (
