Riverside–This year's "99 for Title IX" event, held last Friday, May 19th, was deemed a success as UC Riverside donors, athletes, alumni and administration gathered on the rooftop of the Riverside Art Museum in support of funding for women's athletics.
Three-time Female Big West Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year, Haley Wian delivered an impactful keynote address. She is also the institutional nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year for 2017.
UC Riverside Athletics forerunner Amy S. Harrison '72, and former UC Riverside Athletics Director Stan Morrison led a successful auction that nearly doubled the amount raised in the previous year's auction.
Another highlight of the evening was recognition of Bill Dahling and Kim Devlin's campaign gift of $99,000 to support the women's golf program. Steve Clute donated at the event in honor of his late wife, UC Riverside professor Dr. Pamela Clute.
Entering the eighth annual "99 for Title IX" celebration, $150,000 had been raised in support of women's athletics.
Following an evening of live jazz, food, fellowship, and laughs, the total raised in all "99 for Title IX" events had eclipsed the $200,000 mark.
Last year "99 for Title I"X exhausted eligibility aid went to Women's Track & Field standout Rachel Tice, and Women's Basketball all-time leading scorer Brittany Crain.
Tice, the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, overcame a trying set of circumstances to have an inspiring senior year and earned a degree in Psychology. Read more about it

Crain, a Riverside native, is a two-time Big West Player of the Year honoree, and the only three-time scoring title holder in league history. She graduated a degree in Media and Cultural Studies last summer.
