Riverside—The UC Riverside Athletics Department held its annual end-of-year Scotty Awards on Thursday evening, and Men's Soccer player Vincent Morales was named the male recipient of the Iron Highlander Award.

The Iron Highlander is presented each year to the male and female student-athlete whose dedication, work ethic during workouts and in the weight room are deemed most outstanding.

From Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Gary Heron: "Vincent Morales has been a consistent performer in the weight room since he was a freshmen. In the last year, he has gone the extra mile showing tremendous dedication to his physical development in and out of season. 

"He sets a great example for the younger players on the team of how to approach the work we do in the strength and conditioning program and he will always push himself to be the best he can be. It has been exciting to see his growth and I look forward to seeing him have a big season in the fall."
