Sacramento, CA—UC Riverside's Emily Sanchez, Didi Amarasekara and Samantha Poliakon are on their way to Sacramento, California this weekend for the USA Track & Field 2017 Junior Outdoor Championship. The Championship runs from June 22-25 at Sacramento State's Hornets Stadium.

Sanchez (West Covina, CA), a sophomore, is taking part in the Women's 5,0000m on Friday, June 22 at 9:00 am PT. She finished in fifth place in the 5k at the Big West Track & Field Championship, and her best time of the year was 16:59.21 at Mt. SAC Relays on April 14.

Amarasekara (Etiwanda, CA), a freshman, take a run at the Women's Long Jump title that same day at 11:45 am. She finished fourth in the Heptathlon this season at the conference championship, and posted a top mark in the Long Jump of 19' 10.75" at the Beach Invitational on April 22.

Poliakon (Upland, CA), a freshman, is participating in the Women's Steeplechase on Saturday, June 23 at 4:02 pm. She came in fifth at the Big West Championship in the Steeplechase with a career best time of 10:58.91.
