Men's Tennis Rained Out Against Sacramento State

(Riverside, CA) – The UC Riverside Men's Tennis team (1-0) got rained out in their match against Sacramento State on Friday afternoon at the UCR Student Recreation Center Tennis Complex in Riverside, CA. After three different rain delays, the match was finally cancelled due to weather.
After falling behind in the doubles point, UCR's Austin Andres (San Jose, CA) defeated Jimmy Roberts 6-1, 6-1 at the sixth spot to tie up the match at one apiece. Gorjan Kovacevic (Tiburon, CA) was then defeated 6-3, 6-1 at the second position by Kiryl Harbatsiuk, the 94th ranked player in the nation.
Two consecutive wins by Raineir Matias (Torrance, CA) 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot and John Park (Alhambra, CA) 6-3, 7-5 at the fourth position gave the Highlanders a 3-2 lead at the point play was stopped. There are currently no plans to finish the suspended matches, and the match will not factor into either team's season record.
The Highlanders return to the courts on Saturday, Jan. 31 as they take on Vanguard at 9:00 am and Riverside Community College at 2:00 pm at the Student Recreation Center Tennis Complex in Riverside, CA.
