Tulsa 4, UC Riverside 0 - Box Score
UC Riverside and Colorado State returned to Amy S. Harrison Field Saturday morning to complete their rain-shortened contest from Friday afternoon in the UCR aTEN Construction Invitational. The Highlanders trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the second at the re-start, but had the bases loaded with no outs. Quinn Redman reached on a fielders choice plating one for UCR, and Brooke Hebenton drove in the tying run two batters later with a two-out single.
Stephanie Marshall (0-2) returned to the circle for the Highlanders having started the game the previous day and worked through a scoreless third inning, but the Rams (5-4) put two on the board in the fourth and fifth to take a 6-2 lead. The Highlanders, meanwhile, fell into an offensive funk managing just one hit over the final four innings of play dropping their fourth game of the season. Danielle Chaplin (1-0) got credit for the 6-2 win, allowing just four hits and walking three.
In the second game of the day for the Highlanders, UCR (1-5) ran into a Tulsa buzzsaw as the Golden Hurricanes' Katie Lee pitched a 4-0 no-hitter, and missed out on a perfect game by walking Marissa Alvidrez with two outs in the fourth. She struck out six on the day in picking up her second win of the season.
Tulsa (6-2) was the home team for purposes of this game, and Alvidrez took to the circle for the Highlanders. She had a shutout of her own heading into the top of the fourth before the Golden Hurricanes scratched together three hits and three walks pushing across two runs in the frame. They tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth off of Highlanders' reliever Amy Lwin for the final 4-0 decision.
In the other game played on Day 2 of the UCR aTEN Construction Invitational, Colorado State shutout San Diego 2-0.
