Women's Tennis Concludes Season with 4-0 Loss at Big West Championships

Indian Wells, CA - The #8 seed UC Riverside women's tennis team concluded their season on Friday with a 4-0 loss to #1 Long Beach State at the 2009 Big West Conference Tennis Championships at Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The Highlanders defeated #9 seed Cal State Fullerton on Thursday to advance to the second round, but were no match for the top seeded 49ers.
Long Beach State captured the doubles point with a pair of wins at the second and third spots, defeating the Highlander duos of Angelique Corpuz/Donna McCullough and Nadia Sakhakorn/Ayana Simmons.
In singles play, the 49ers won matches at No. 2, 4, and 1 to complete the sweep and move on to the next round. UCR senior Erynne Oki had her eight-match singles winning streak snapped with her 6-2, 6-3 loss to LBSU's Hannah Grady at the No. 1 position.
The Highlanders conclude their season with a 9-11 overall record.
