DuBose's 8th Place Finish Leads UCR To 5th At Williamette Invitational

Salem, OR - Damajeria DuBose's eighth place overall finish led the UC Riverside women's cross country team to a fifth place finish out of 24 teams at the 36th Annual Charles Bowles Williamette Invitational at Bush Park on Saturday morning.
DuBose has now finished in the top-10 in all three meets during the 2010 season, finishing first on the team in all of them as well.
Her time of 17:49.23 was half a minute shy of Alaska Anchorage's Miriam Kipng'eno, who won the 5k meet in 17:19.04.
Idaho won the team title with 55 points followed by Alaska Anchorage, Chico State, Lipscomb, and UC Riverside rounding out the top-5.
Brittany Reimer finished second for the Highlanders and 17th overall in 18:03.20. Katy Daly and Margaret Sitker finished 34th and 35th respectively with times of 18:12.63 and 18:14.30.
Jenessia Navarro and Jzsanette Lindstrom were right behind them with a 43rd and 44th place finish respectively in 18:22.86 and 18:23.35.
Finishing out the Highlanders squad is Camila Alvarez in 18:37.58 to place 59th.
“Our women’s team ran a pretty tough race," Head Coach Irv Ray explained. "Damajeria DuBose led the way with a top-10 performance, but we had really good performances from our freshman and sophomores. I’m proud of how they competed today."
UC Riverside returns to action at the Northridge Invitational on October 16 at 8:00 am in Northridge, CA.
