Chad Hall Finishes 10th At NCAA West Regionals, Advances To Nationals

Springfield, OR - UC Riverside's Chad Hall finished 10th out of 178 runners at the 10k NCAA West Regionals on Saturday morning to advance to the national championships on Monday, November 22 in Terre Haute, IN.
Hall's time of 30:16.40 is a personal-best and the highest ever finish for a UCR runner. The Big Bear, CA native joins former Highlanders Ulices Pina and Brenda Martinez as the only UCR runners to advance to the NCAA Nationals in the Division I era of the program.
"Chad Hall had a very strong performance today and demonstrated that he is a national-level runner," Director of Cross Country Irv Ray stated.
Hall helped the Highlanders men's team to a 17th place finish out of 25 squads. Seth Totten finished second for UCR in 90th place with a time of 31:41.58.
Talal Khan came in 109th place in 31:57.98, with Brett Valencia finishing 116th in 32:01.78, and Steven Crum placing 135th with a time of 32:21.95.
Rounding out the team includes a 136th place finish for Omar Gonzalez in 32:23.19, and a 168th place finish for Carlo Ordinola in 34:20.50.
Oregon won the team title with 63 points, followed closely by Stanford with 65 points. Portland's Trevor Dunbar won the individual title by .06 seconds in 29:57.89.
In the 6k women's race, UC Riverside finished 19th out of 31 squads, led by an 82nd place finish from Katy Daly in 21:38.05.
Daly was followed by Damajeria DuBose in 101st place (21:53.90), Brittany Reimer in 114th (22:08.59), Margaret Sitker in 136th (22:23.24), and Jenessia Navarro in 145th (22:27.18).
Jzsanette Lindstrom (175th, 22:59.67), and Camila Alvarez (189th, 23:12.10) rounded out the Highlanders squad.
Washington won the women's team title with 73 points followed closely by Oregon with 77 points. Oregon's Jordan Hasay won the individual title in 20:01.90.
The West Regionals conclude the team portion of the 2010 cross country schedule for both UCR's teams, with Hall advancing to the NCAA Nationals as an individual.
