Win Streak Comes To An End As Miami Wins 81-59 Over Women's Basketball

Coral Gables, FL - The UC Riverside women's basketball team had its three-game winning streak broken on Saturday afternoon as the Miami Hurricanes won 81-59 at the BankUnited Center in the third of a four-game cross-country road swing for the Highlanders.
The Hurricanes (10-1), who are receiving votes in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Polls, outshot UCR (6-3) 45.5 percent to 40.0 percent, while also forcing 26 turnovers compared to just 13.
Miami opened the game scoring 10 straight points the first four minutes into play. A three-pointer by Alyssa Morris at the 15:17 mark put the Highlanders on board, but the Hurricanes pushed their margin out to 13, 16-3, just a minute later.
UM played the rest of the half with a 15-19 point cushion, taking a 42-24 lead into the break.
UCR cut the lead to 13, 47-34, after two Morris free throws with 16:06 in the second half, but that was as close as the team would get as they were held scoreless until the 8:30 mark.
Down 79-42 with under three minutes remaining, the Highlanders put on a run scoring 12 straight points and 15-of-17 as they cut the lead to 81-59 to conclude the game.
Tre'Shonti Nottingham led the Highlanders with 13 points while Brittany Palmer (pictured) added 11. Miami's Shenise Johnson led all players with 18 points.
The Highlanders conclude their four-game cross-country road trip at Missouri on Tuesday, December 21 at 5pm PST in Columbia, MO.
