Sedona, AZ - Led by a ninth place finish by Alexandra Erdman (pictured) and a tenth place finish by Natalie Guidry, the UC Riverside women's golf team concluded play at the Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday with a sixth place finish out of 18 teams at Oak Creek Country Club.
The Highlanders fired a 320 second round team score for a 642 overall total, just one stroke back of a tie for fourth place with Eastern Michigan and Xavier.
Host Northern Arizona won the team title by shooting a 613, while Cal Poly finished second at 617 and Portland placed third at 638.
Alexandra Erdman led UCR with a ninth place finish out of 105 competitors with a two-round 155 (78-77). Natalie Guidry finished one stroke back with a 156 (79-77) to place in a tie for tenth.
Amelia Ek was the third Highlanders top-20 finisher as she placed in a tie for 17th with a 159 (81-78). Rounding out the squad was Tiffany Koyano (84-88) with a T79th finish, and Denyse Neville (87-88), who placed T91st.
UC Riverside returns to the links at the CSU Bakersfield Tournament on March 22-23.
First Round
Sedona, AZ - The UC Riverside women's golf team hit the links on Saturday afternoon for the first round of the Red Rocks Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona University at Oak Creek Country Club. Led by two scores in the 70's, the Highlanders are in a tie for fifth place out of 18 teams, firing a 322 team score.
Cal Poly is the clubhouse leader with a 307 while NAU is in second place shooting a 312, and Eastern Michigan and Montana are tied for third at 320. UCR, Western New Mexico, and Portland are all tied for fifth place with identical 322s.
Individually, senior Alexandra Erdman led the Highlanders squad with a 78 to tie for 10th, while Natalie Guidry fired a 79 and is tied for 15th.
Amelia Ek shot an 81, Tiffany Koyano fired an 84, and Denyse Neville shot an 87 to round out the Highlanders team.
Cal Poly's Kristin Locke and NAU's Aleah Kim are tied for the individual lead with a three-over-par 75.
The tournament concludes with an 18-hole round on Sunday morning.
