Austin Named Budweiser Responsbility Matters Good Sport Of The Month
3/4/2010 2:28:47 PM | Men's Basketball
Anheuser-Busch has teamed up with UC Riverside athletics and chosen men's basketball player Kyle Austin as the March recipient of the "Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month." Please visit the Budweiser Responsibility Matters web page to view past recipients.
During the month of February, Austin averaged 21.6 points and 8.9 rebounds in seven games while connecting on 45.0 percent of his field goal attempts, 50.0 percent of his three-pointers and 73.6 percent of his free throws.
Those scoring averages include a 35-point performance in a win over Cal State Fullerton on February 6 and a career-high 39 points vs. Cal Poly on February 13. Austin's 39 points were the second most in the Division I history of the program. His season scoring averages overall (17.9) and in conference play (20.2) are also the best since the Highlanders made the transition to Division I prior to the 2001-02 season.
Austin and the Highlanders end their 2009-10 regular season on the road this Friday at Long Beach State. Tip is slated for 7:35 pm.
Anheuser-Busch congratulates Austin for demonstrating that RESPONSIBILITY REALLY DOES MATTER!
