Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside women's tennis team dropped its final regular season match 5-1 to Cal State Fullerton on a cold Wednesday afternoon at the SRC Tennis Complex.
The match started with singles action due to impending inclement weather. The Titans took five of the six singles matches for the 5-1 lead, with UCR's Roxanne Plata (pictured) earning the lone point for the Highlanders with her 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
Both Donna McCullough and Angelique Corpuz took their matches into the third set before ultimately falling to their Fullerton opponents.
The rain finally made its way to the SRC Tennis Complex during doubles play, and since CSF already had more than four points, they were awarded the win even though doubles competition did not finish.
The Highlanders gear up for the Big West Conference Championships on Thursday, Apr. 29 at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, CA.
