Riverside City Council Honors UCR's Women's Basketball

City Councilman Andy Melendrez and the Riverside City Council honored the UC Riverside women's basketball team at their April 27 council meeting. Head Coach John Margaritis, Assistant Coach Jody Reding, and members of the team were in attendance to accept the honor.
The Highlanders won the 2010 Big West Basketball Tournament Championship on Mar. 13 after defeating UC Davis 71-67. UCR claimed its third title in five years having won the tournament in the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
UC Riverside also made its fourth trip to the postseason in five years and its third NCAA Tournament. The #16 seeded Highlanders faced off against #1 seeded and No. 2 nationally ranked Stanford in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Mar. 20, losing 79-47.
