Damajeria Dubose's Ninth Place Finish Helps Highlanders To Fourth Overall

Riverside—UC Riverside sophomore Damajeria Dubose finished in ninth place at the 30th running of the UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning, helping the Highlanders to a fourth place overall finish in the 24-team field. Her time of 17:29.1 is the eighth fastest ever for a UC Riverside runner since the Ag/Ops course took on its current configuration in 2004.
Loyola Marymount's Tara Edrmann won the race with a time of 16:45.4 as the Lions took third overall. Arkansas won the team title placing four of their runners in the top eight scorers and all seven in the top 24, while Southern Utah finished in second.
Sophomore Katy Daly finished in 17th place with a time of 17:36.5 for the Highlanders. Senior Margaret Sitker's time of 17:46.1 was good enough for 27th place while sophomore Brittany Reimer took 36th (17:55.3), freshman Jzsanette Lindstrom finished 48th (18:07.7), junior Jenessia Navarro came in 53rd (18:10.4) and junior Camila Alvarez was 76th (18:26.0).
In the Women's 5k Open, Bethany Nickless with the Asics Aggies took first place with a time of 17:40.5. Loyola Marymount took the team title placing four runners among the top 10 scorers.
Next up for the Highlanders is an October 2 trip up the coast to Willamette, Oregon for the Willamette Invitational beginning at 10 am PT.
