Riverside, CA - Brittany Waddell scored a season-high 27 points and two other players scored in double figures to lead the UC Riverside women's basketball team to an 83-65 win over Long Beach State at the Student Recreation Center on Wednesday evening.
The Highlanders improve to 17-11 overall, 10-5 in league play, with one regular season game remaining. The 49ers fall to 8-22 overall and 6-10 in conference play.
With the win, UCR secures at least a third place finish in the Big West standings. With a Highlanders win this upcoming Saturday and a UC Santa Barbara loss, UCR would move up to second entering the conference tournament.

Tre'Shonti Nottingham added 16 points for UCR while Rhaya Neabors had 13. LBSU's Brandi Henton led the Beach with 15 points off the bench.
UCR went 0-6 from the field to open the game as Long Beach led 2-0 through two minutes of play. A Waddell three-pointer at the 17:35 mark started a 10-0 run as the Highlanders hit 4 for 4 from the field taking a 10-2 lead.

LBSU closed to four with 15:47 left, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way as the Highlanders lead reached double digits the remainder of the half.
