Women's Tennis Gets Back On Winning Track With 9-0 Sweep At UCSC

Santa Cruz, CA - The UC Riverside women's tennis team opened its spring break road trip on Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 sweep of UC Santa Cruz.
The doubles matches were close at Nos. 1 and 2 but UCR prevailed 8-5 and 8-6. Angelique Corpuz and Kate Bergeson made quick work of their opponents at No. 3 doubles with an 8-2 win.
The Highlanders then swept all six singles matches led by Jamie Raney's 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3.
At No. 2 singles, Nadia Sakhakorn battled against Alex Scotten 7-6, 7-6 in both sets but ultimately earned the win.
At No. 1, Taylor Raney defeated her opponent 6-2, 7-6, while Natalie McKay won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4. UCR won at the bottom flights as well as Corpuz won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 and Bergeson won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.
The Highlanders continue their Northern California road trip with a 2:00 pm match at Santa Clara on Wednesday, March 23.
