Ek Places 4th; Women's Golf Finishes 5th At Big West Championships

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA - The UC Riverside women's golf team concluded the Big West Conference Championship on Tuesday in 5th place out of 7 teams with a three-round 922 total at Tijeras Creek Golf Club.
The Highlanders were in sixth after two rounds, but shot a 303 in the third round to jump ahead of Cal State Northridge in fifth. UC Riverside lowered its team scores in each round, shooting 310, 309, and 303 to finish four strokes ahead of the Matadors. Cal State Fullerton finished in seventh.
Sophomore Amelia Ek had the best individual finish for the Highlanders, tying for 4th with a 219 score. She concluded the competition with an even-par 72 on Tuesday to improve one spot after Monday's round.
Ashlee Yee and Natalie Guidry both concluded the event with identical 230 totals to tie for 16th place. Tiffany Koyano carded a 243 three-round score to tie for 32nd, while Christy Fogerty finished in 35th with a 254.
UC Davis claimed its second straight Big West title by finishing with an 867 total. Long Beach State came in second with an 885 while Cal Poly was third at 895 and UC Irvine fourth with a 901.
The Aggies' Alice Kim won the individual crown with a nine-under 207.
