Men's Golf Improves 16 Strokes Between Rounds At Saint Mary's Inv.

Seaside, CA—The UC Riverside men's golf team improved 16 strokes between the first and second rounds on Monday to place 12th out of 15 teams at the Saint Mary's Invitational at Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses.
The Highlanders shot 314 in round one but came back to shoot a 298 second round score for a 612 total.
BJ Doucett tied for 11th overall at one-over-par 145 (74-71) to lead the Highlanders.
Robbie Mamo lowered his second round score by six strokes as he fired an 80-74 for a 154 total to tie for 49th place. Matt Fizgerald also improved in the second round, going from an 80 to a 77 for a 157 total to tie for 59th.
David Gazzolo followed suit as he carded rounds of 83-76 to tie for 70th with a 159, while Ryan Smith tied for 79th at 164 (80-84).
Cal State Northridge's Chris Russo leads the field with a seven-under-par 137 (68-69) score.
Oregon is the team leader with a nine-under 567 while UAB is second at 576.
The tournament concludes with a final 18-hole round on Tuesday at Bayonet Golf Course beginning at 8:00 am.
