Women's Cross Country Wins Highlander Invitational As DuBose Takes Individual Crown

Riverside, CA—Damajeria DuBose won the 4k Highlander Invitational Saturday morning at the Ag/Ops Course, guiding the UC Riverside Women's Cross Country Team to a victory.
The Highlanders totaled 27 points and had four runners in the top-10 to claim first-place honors. USC came in second place with 49 points followed by Wyoming with 54 points, and UC Irvine with 93 points.
"DuBose's time broke the course record," Head Coach Irv Ray stated. "The women's team ran a strong effort preparing them for the Big West Championship."
DuBose's time of 13:32.7 was five seconds ahead of second-place Holly Page of Wyoming.
Raquel Hefflin finished third for UCR running the course in 13:48.5, while Alisha Brown placed fifth in 13:53.0, and Katy Daly was seventh in 13:58.4.
Jzsanette Lindstrom and Brianna Simmons finished back-to-back in 11th and 12th places respectively with times of 14:08.2 and 14:11.0.
Jaasmin Pina came in 20th place in 14:35.0, while Maryann Holliday finished 29th with a time of 14:55.9.
Rounding out the squad was Brittany Fellows in 41st place, Elizabeth Guzman in 46th, and Sarah Chavez in 49th place.
This was the final tuneup for UC Riverside before the Big West Conference Championship, slated for Saturday, October 27 at 8:45 am PT at UCR's Ag/Ops Course in Riverside.
