Riverside, CA—For the fifth time in as many years, and for the eighth time since the Highlanders joined the Big West Conference in 2001, UC Riverside's Ag/Ops Course will play host to the Big West Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 27. (Listen to Head Coach Irv Ray discuss the cross country course)
The women's 6k race starts at 8:45 am PT with the men's 8k race beginning at 9:30 am. An awards ceremony will begin shortly following the conclusion of the men's race.
For the first time, the Big West Conference will provide free, live streaming video from the Championships. From the beginning of the races through the finish lines and on to the awards platform, the live stream will provide new access to the championships for fans.
Â
The broadcast will be available on the Big West Cross Country Championships page at http://bit.ly/bwtxc beginning at 8:15 am on Saturday and will follow the race leaders through the course.
Â
Produced utilizing technology from StreamCell and UStream, the broadcast will also be available on mobile devices and via the UStream iOS or Android apps on the Big West Conference UStream channel.
The UCR women's team looks to claim its second-ever Big West Championship after taking home the crown in 2008. The Highlanders finished in fourth in 2010 and in fifth place in 2009 and 2011, but return a veteran squad that this season finished in the top two in three of four races.
The Highlanders men's team finished fourth or better in each of the past five seasons, and will look to junior Seth Totten to lead a young squad during Saturday's race.
General admission tickets are $5, while Big West students get in for just $2. Parking for home cross country meets is in Lot 30 located in the Northwest corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Canyon Crest Drive. Shuttles will be available to transport spectators from the parking lot to the course and back to the parking lot. A $5 fee is payable to the attendant on site. If no attendant is present, please use the dispenser located in the lot. Media parking is available at the course.
To reach the Ag/Ops Course from the 215/60 freeway, exit Martin Luther King and go West. Turn left at the Canyon Crest traffic light and travel approximately 300 meters to the course entrance. For parking in Lot 30, continue straight on Martin Luther King.
