Irvine—UC Riverside junior Natasha Hadley captured Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors after leading the Highlanders to a pair of home victories against Washington State and Northern Arizona. This comes on the heels of her being named the College Sports Madess Big West Player of the Week.
The 6-2 center led the Highlanders in scoring in both games, and topped the team in rebounding and field goal percentage for the week.
Hadley amassed her second double-double of the year with a 17-point, 13-rebound effort in a 71-65 triumph over the Cougars 8 (box score/recap/video). She knocked down 8 of 16 from the floor and added four assists, a block and a steal to her stat line.
Against the Lumberjacks, Hadley flirted with another double-double as she had 15 points and nine caroms in the 71-43 win (box score/recap/video). She made 6 of 9 from the floor and added two steals with the 28-point win being UCR's largest margin of victory since defeating Cal State Northridge by 29 points on Feb. 3, 2011.
For the week, Hadley averaged 16.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 56.0 (14 of 25) percent from the floor.
The two victories moved UCR to 5-2 on the season, marking the program's best-ever start in its Division I history.
