Women's Tennis Sweeps Top Flight In Singles In 5-2 Win At CSUB

Bakersfield, CA - The UC Riverside women's tennis team used solid play at the top three flights in singles action to defeat CSU Bakersfield 5-2 on Friday afternoon.
The Highlanders began the day by taking two of three in doubles action to earn the first point. Jamie and Taylor Raney won 8-3 at No. 1, while Courtney Pattugalan and Kate Bergeson won 8-1 at No. 2.
In singles, the Highlanders had a strong showing at Nos. 1-3, winning all matches in straight sets.
Jamie Raney defeated Veronica Dimas 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 while Natalie McKay won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 over Daniela Dimas, and Taylor Raney claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 3 against Nancy Ramirez.
The Runners won matches at No. 4 and 6, but Bergeson battled back in a tiebreaker at No. 5 to earn the final point for UCR, 5-7, 7-6, 10-5.
UC Riverside gets back to Big West play on Sunday, March 4 by hosting UC Davis at 11:00 am at the SRC Tennis Courts in Riverside.
