Men's Tennis Battles In 5-2 Loss To 58th Ranked Cal Poly

Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside men's tennis team closed out regular season play on Sunday afternoon falling 5-2 to No. 58 ranked Cal Poly in Big West Conference action at the SRC Tennis Courts.
UCR's top doubles duo of Austin Andres and Felix Macherez defeated their opponents 4-1 retired at No. 1, but Cal Poly won at Nos. two and three to take the doubles point.
In singles, the Highlanders won matches at Nos. 2 and 3 as both Jimmy Roberts and Andres won as their opponents retired. Roberts was up 5-0 in the first set before his opponent, Brian McPhee, retired, and likewise Andres won the first set 7-5 before Jordan Bridge retired.
Macherez lost a tough 6-4, 6-4 battle at No. 1 to 34th ranked Andre Dome, and the Mustangs won in the lower three flights to secure the victory.
UC Riverside now prepares for the Big West Championship beginning on Friday, April 27 at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, CA.
