Andres And Macherez Named To Big West Men's Tennis All-Conference Team

Irvine, CA—The Big West Conference announced its men's tennis all-conference awards on Tuesday afternoon, honoring a duo of UC Riverside players as Felix Macherez was named Second-Team in singles, and joined doubles partner Austin Andres with Second-Team honors in doubles.
Macherez posted a 9-14 dual record at No. 1 singles for the Highlanders, at one point winning six consecutive matches. Three of his losses in league play were to nationally ranked opponents, including two tough 6-4, 6-4 losses.
Macherez teamed up with Austin Andres at No. 1 doubles for UC Riverside, going 12-10 in dual matches. The pair posted a 2-3 record in leauge play, earning victories against UC Davis and Cal Poly.
This is Macherez's third and fourth Big West All-Conference accolades, as he was named Honorable Mention in both singles and doubles in 2009.
Cal Poly junior Andre Dome highlighted the announcement of the 2012 men's tennis all-conference team as the Big West Player of the Year. UC Santa Barbara's Marty Davis was named Coach of the Year and UC Irvine's Jacob Jung the Freshman of the Year to round out the top awards.
