Women's Tennis Falls Shy Of Victory In 5-2 Loss To Nevada

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team returned to action Friday afternoon with a 5-2 loss to Nevada at Andulka Park. Watch the video.

The Wolfpack claimed the doubles point with a sweep, winning 8-4 at number one and 8-2 at numbers two and three.

In singles, the Highlanders rallied for wins in two of the six matches.

Natalie McKay defeated Sheila Smiley 6-2, 6-2 at number three, and Jamie Raney battled back from a first-set 6-2 loss to win 6-2, 6-4 at the top spot.

The other four matches were close, but went in favor of Nevada in the victory.

"Great match," Head Coach Mark Henry stated. "Really high quality tennis at number one with Jamie Raney. And we won at number three as well, with Natalie McKay."

Next up for the Highlanders is a Sunday, March 3 meeting with Cal State Northridge at 12 pm PT at Andulka Park.
