Three Players In Double Figures Not Enough As Women's Hoops Falls At Hawai'i, 67-57

Honolulu, HI - The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team traveled to the Big West's newest member Thursday evening needing a win to keep its postseason hopes alive, but Hawai'i used a second-half run to put the game away, and emerged victorious, 67-57, at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Highlanders (11-17, 4-13) were down by nine to start the second half, 37-28, but an 11-2 run to open the second period tied the game at 39 with 13:37 to go.
Hawai'i (16-12, 12-5) responded with six straight points, and scored eight consecutive a few minutes later opening up a 55-42 advantage at the 7:45 mark.
An Akilah Martin three-pointer put a stop to the run, and UCR continued to push cutting the lead to two possessions, 58-53, following a Jamila Williams jumper with just under four minutes to go.
The teams traded buckets, but the Highlanders could not get the lead closer than eight the rest of the way as the Rainbow Wahine held on for the win.
UCR outshot the Wahine in the second half, 41.4 percent to 30.8 percent, but for the game, both teams connected on 42.1 percent of their shots.
Brittany Crain scored a game-high 23 points to lead UC Riverside, while Williams had 14 and Natasha Hadley added 12. Kamilah Martin led UH with 21 points.
The Highlanders return to the mainland to conclude their regular season schedule on Saturday, March 9 for a 4 pm PT tip at Cal State Northridge.
